Ideal i6 mid-size electric SUV is coming soon

Ideal Auto is stepping up its layout and is about to launch the i6, a medium-to-large pure electric SUV designed for young families, aiming to expand its pure electric product line. Recently exposed spy photos show that this model is similar to the i8 SUV, with a streamlined MPV shape and a focus on interior space and practicality. Following the i8's debut in July, the i6 is expected to be officially unveiled in September and is scheduled for a wider promotion in October.

The i6 will be Ideal Auto's first five-seat pure electric SUV and the second model in its pure electric product line (Ideal Auto i8 is expected to be a six-seat model). Built on a dedicated electric vehicle platform, the i6 is about 4.8 meters long and has a wheelbase of 2.96 meters. Its short front overhang, fastback roofline and floating roof reduce air resistance to less than 0.25 while maximizing interior space. Inspired by the Li MEGA and i8, the front of the car features a wraparound daytime running light strip and recessed headlights for a simple and futuristic look.

Spy photos confirm its efficient layout. The shortened engine compartment provides space for a spacious interior, with more than one meter of legroom in the second row. The trunk can accommodate large items such as camping equipment or folding bicycles, while the increased roof height improves headroom without affecting the streamlined body contour. The sloping rear window, roof spoiler and full-width taillight design together form a dynamic tail shape.

In terms of power, it is expected to be equipped with a dual-motor all-wheel drive system, which may be shared with the i8, with a combined output power of about 400 kilowatts and an acceleration time of about 5 seconds per 100 kilometers. The i6 will use ternary lithium batteries with a CLTC range of 600-700 kilometers. It is also equipped with an 800V high-voltage platform and 5C fast charging technology, which can be fully charged in 10 minutes for a range of 500 kilometers. In addition, it will support vehicle-to-load (V2L) functions to further enhance practicality.

All models are equipped with advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) as standard, including the roof-mounted Hesai ATL lidar and the Ideal Auto NOA (autonomous driving navigation) system equipped with NVIDIA Thor-X chips. The system supports urban and highway driving scenarios and provides more functions through wireless updates through the VLA AI driving model that Ideal Auto will launch in July.
