Xpeng bucks trend, raises X9 minivan price by USD5500

Xpeng New Energy Vehicle maker has opened pre-sales for the 2025 X9 minivan in China, which is priced 40,000 yuan (about $5,500) higher than the 2024 model. He Xiaopeng's company bucked the trend and appears to have upgraded the X9's configuration.

The Xpeng X9 minivan went on sale in China in January 2024. The family-centric model is priced between 359,800 and 419,800 yuan (about $492,500 to $574,500). Despite being equipped with some impressive technologies such as air suspension, rear-wheel steering, and XNGP driver assistance system, the X9 has not become a hot-selling model.

The 2025 Xpeng X9 retains the appearance of its predecessor. However, it has some obvious highlights. One of them is the elimination of the roof-mounted lidar. Xpeng Motors has switched to a more vision-based driver assistance system and eliminated the use of light detection and ranging sensors. The new car's ADAS system is similar to the recently upgraded Xpeng G6 and G9.

The body size of the Xpeng X9 is 5293/1988/1785 mm, and the wheelbase is 3160 mm. Despite its large body size, its drag coefficient is only 0.227 Cd, which is almost the same as the Tesla Model Y Juniper. Lower wind resistance means lower energy consumption and lower wind noise at high speeds. Like the previous generation model, the 2025 X9 also uses rear-wheel steering.

The interior of the Xpeng X9 adopts a 2+2+3 layout. The new model is equipped with zero-gravity second-row seats and an optional 16-point massage function. Another highlight is the 21.4-inch display used by second-row passengers. According to Xpeng Motors, this is the largest display in its class. The 2025 X9 is also equipped with a 10.8-liter refrigerator. Other features include a 220V power socket, dual 50W wireless charging pads, and a folding table.

The entry-level Xpeng X9 is equipped with a single motor on the rear axle with a peak power of 235 kW (315 hp). The four-wheel drive version has a peak power of 370 kW (496 hp). Therefore, it is basically the same as the previous generation model. Under CLTC conditions, the Xpeng X9 has a range of up to 740 kilometers.
